The Hyundai Genesis is a rear-wheel drive, full-size sedan that first appeared as a concept car for the 2007 New York International Auto Show.

Hyundai Chairman and CEO, Chung Mong-koo states that the car is an entry for the luxury category that is dominated by European carmakers. Their Vice-chairman, Kim Dong-jin further states that this is just the first premium vehicle that Hyundai will introduce, and there’s still more to come. One edge of the Genesis against competitors is that it’s priced many thousands of dollars less than the cars it aspires to compete with.

For the year 2009, Hyundai has created an all new Hyundai Genesis. The 2009 Genesis is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, available in two trims, the 3.8L and the 4.6L.

“The 3.8L is equipped with a standard 3.8-liter, V6, 290-horsepower engine that achieves 19-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. The 4.6L is equipped with a standard 4.6-liter, V8, 375-horsepower engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.” With these engine specifications, performance will also be in line with top luxury sedans.

The exterior of the Genesis which was highlighted with chrome bits and pieces is certainly handsome both from near and far. Genesis features a suspension design that is among the most sophisticated and refined. It features an advance front and rear suspension which is made better by an Amplitude Selective Dampers (ASD). The ASD yields improved ride comfort among passengers because of its better wheel movement. Drivers as well will have increased driving comfort due to its optimized surface contact.

As for its auto body parts, its got a total of 8 ultrasonic sensors that are installed on the front and rear bumpers. This would surely help drivers on parking in tight spaces. It also has power rear sunshade and automatic electronic parking brake.

Overall, Genesis’s design demonstrates a more progressive version of a modern rear wheel drive sports sedan.

Inside this luxury newbie, is a 5-seater cabin with ample head and leg room both front and rear. It has wealthy features inside the car. First is the Lexicon state-of-the-art audio system featuring LOGIC 7® technology? Next is its soft-touch instrument panel with wood-grain accents, Bluetooth® hands-free mobile phone interface, and USB/iPod® auxiliary inputs. It also has the state-of-the-art navigation system with eight-inch display.

The Genesis is certainly an attractive looking package with an extraordinary combination of technology, luxury features, and value.
