Getting quality search engine traffic can be a very big challenge and that is one of the reasons I decided to write this article.

The first and most important thing to understand is what the search engines are trying to do. Search engines like Google want their users to be able to simply enter a search term and find the best, most current information on that topic every time. In order to do this, they have "bots" that look at your website almost daily to check for updated content.

They consider this "fresh" information. They also look at how many other related websites are linking to your website. Each link to your site counts as a vote for your popularity and the website with the most other sites linking to it, and has the freshest content is placed at the top.

To get those valuable links pointing to your page, You should write an article like the one you are reading from right now and submit it to an article submission site. Make sure you include a link to your website and this will get you plenty of what are called back-links. (links that lead back to your website)

Next you need to add some fresh text or pictures to your site every day or two. If you've nothing to add then make some modifications but make sure the bots see a slightly different site every time they return. You can also do several HTML modifications that will help your ranking. Use H1 tags in your page header and wrap your best keyword or key-phrase in these tags. The search engines count what's in the tag as a keyword and also, if people are browsing images using the popular Google images feature, they can click on your image in there and will land at your website.
